Google Introduces A New Webmaster Tool : The Data Highlighter

Google has constantly tried to improve the user friendly interface of Google search.This new tool is made to highlight some events on some pages.Data Highlighter will display those in event in the search results.Before, if we wanted to display events in search results,we need to add micro formats to the page.But now Google has made it easy for even a new web designer to do add a highlight to an event in Google search.

Today, this tool is only available in English and only for structured data about events like concerts, sporting events, festivals, and exhibitions. Google promises to expand this project to other data types and languages in the months ahead.

This video will give you step-by-step instructions on how to use Data Highlighter.

We can add 5 to 10 high lights to each page.After you are done, simply hit publish.Google will regularly crawl your site for new event listings and add them to its search results.

Google does not guarantee to display all the highlights you made to the page.Google will first apply it's own rules and then it will display those highlights in the results. This process might eliminate some highlights, if Google finds any event which is fake.Google will also warn all the webmasters not to use Data Highlighter for promoting non-event festivals or concerts.
